Dog face recognition, smart shoveling, video games...... How much we'll interact with our pets in the future
From "raising" to "accompanying", pets have become indispensable family members.
The latest data from Euromonitor shows that from 2015 to 2021, the global pet market has steadily climbed from $109.8 billion to $159.7 billion, with a compound annual growth rate of 6.4%. In China, the pet consumption market has soared from 14 billion yuan to 249 billion yuan in a decade.
With the blessing of technologies such as the Internet of Things, big data, and artificial intelligence, our interactions with pets are getting richer and richer. How will technology help us become more intimate with our pets in the future? How can we raise pets wisely?

"Shit shovel officer, play games with me."
Playing video games is no longer a human privilege! British pet startup Joipaw has developed a gaming home console for pet dogs called Joipaw. It has a touch screen and an automatic feeder.
In the future, we may see such a picture.
When I got home, I found that the dog was "fighting" in front of the screen. It accurately "caught" every gopher on the screen with its nose. Each time the dog successfully touched the gopher on the screen, the feeding machine released a treat and gave a reward. The dog ate frantically with relish.
Not only that, but Joipaw has also paired its console with sports wearables that allow owners to monitor their pets through the APP, as well as connect directly to the game content for additional game control.

"Pooper, take my ID."
There are no two identical leaves in the world, and there are no two dogs with identical nose stripes.
Similar to human fingerprints, canine nose marks are unique and stable, and do not even change as they grow. The owner only needs to take a simple photo or video recording of the dog's nose. The system locates the key points of the nose mark through the dog's nose detection, and the extracted nose mark depth map information is imported into the background database, and a unique ID card can be generated for the dog.
At present, with the increasing popularity of AI technology, dog nose print recognition technology determines the identity of dogs by comparing the similarities between the features of dog nose print images. Its core technology is to use pattern recognition, image processing and other methods to describe, match and classify the features of dog nose prints, so as to achieve automatic dog individual authentication. Compared with the existing DNA authentication and chip authentication, nose print recognition has the advantages of high recognition accuracy, high pet friendliness, good operating experience, strong anti-cheating, low cost, and has a wide range of application prospects.
At present, technology companies have launched pet nose print recognition solutions for pet management in the city, such as AI pet search, pet access control, online dog license management. This scheme mainly describes, matches and classifies the dog's nose print features through pattern recognition and image processing, so as to realize the identification and authentication of dogs.
When a pet has a unique ID, information about the dog's basic information, life dynamics, consumption history, services and medical treatment will be tied to it. The expanded pet competition, pet insurance, pet medical treatment, pet retail and other scenarios will present more diverse possibilities.
"Shoveler, have you shovelled today?"
Through DNA testing technology and drones, the dog's feces can be accurately targeted, and the scooper who refuses to scoop the poop can be found, held accountable and educated.
From the point of view of DNA collection, PooPrints, an American DNA-technology pet company, already has a mature solution.
First, a sample of biometric data is extracted from each dog. Each dog's genetic profile is then registered and securely uploaded to the DNA World Pet Registration database, with the owner also required to fill out a basic form of information about himself, which is stored in the dog's "ID card". Finally, it is only necessary to extract the evidence from the "crime scene", return the sample evidence to the laboratory for processing, and match the feces with the dogs, thus finding the lazy poop scooper.
So how do you track dog poop?
Dutch entrepreneur Gerben Lievers has combined sensors and robots into a "drone poop scooper." The first drone model, called Watchdog1, mainly uses thermal imaging technology to locate the poop that needs shoveling by its temperature compared to the surrounding area. At the same time, the model is equipped with a GPS positioning system, and the relevant data is sent to a ground robot called Patroldog1, which is responsible for finding and cleaning up after receiving the data.
Cool technology brings shock at the same time, but also warm our life bit by bit. In the future, rationality and ruthlessness will no longer be synonymous with machines, and they will integrate into every family with the image of temperature and a sense of life, making the family intelligent.
